"I was agreeably surprised by the size of the suite, which is actually a small apartment. If you are two or more people, the place is a bargain as there is a double bed in the bedroom, as well as a single bed in the living room, so that up to three people can be accommodated. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with cooking tools, dishes, and cutlery. It contained a refrigerator, a freezer, a normal stove/oven, a microwave oven, and a table with seating for four. The bathroom was new and sparkling, and the towels were a cheery shade of sunshine yellow. There is ample closet and storage space, including a hideaway shoe cabinet. The garden is beautifully planted with palm trees and other lush greenery. I had a balcony running the length of both rooms. The hotel is not extremely close to the airport, but that is actually an advantage as the jet noise is not so loud. This would be a good place to stay for either the night before a flight or even for a few days. The ruins of Ostia Antica are not far away, and the beach is also nearby. Central Rome is reasonably accessible. I would stay there again."
"Euro House is, by far, the BEST we stayed in on our trip to Italy and Malta. Massimo and Fabiola were perfect innkeepers, gracious and extremely helpful. Thier English language skills are a real plus. Ten minutes form Leonardo Da Vinci airport, but out of the flight path, with their ever-ready shuttle service is a big plus. Euro House is actually fully equipped short term apartments. There is lots of room to get organized on arrival and departure and to deal with jet-lag. Very near by (a short bus ride) is Ostia Antica, an archeological dig (scavi) and museum park equal in interest with Pompeii. The web and brochure pictures EXACTLY depicted the apartments we stayed in -- they are really that nicely furnished! Since the train station for the Fuimicino Express to Roma is connected to the airport, Massimo will provide the van shuttle for your link to and from the train as well as the plane. Euro House is a jewel! Don't miss this one!"

"My flight was delayed and I arrived around midnight at the airport, even though it was way past check-in time, the hotel staff were very helpful in arranging a taxi for me and making sure that I got to the hotel safely. All of the staff went out of their way to treat me and my guest like we were old friends or family. Bruna & Americo even acted out a purse-snatching scene when we were getting ready to go to Rome for the day. They were concerned about us carrying purses, but their English was limited, so they enacted a scene with Americo trying to steal Bruna's purse and Bruna yelling' "Attenciones! Attenciones!" I would highly reccomend Euro House, both for the quality of the facility and because of the excellent service by all of the staff."

I've stayed in many hotels in the area, and none come anywhere near the standard of this place. This hotel is about as quiet as can be expected considering it's basically walking distance from the Fiumicino airport. It's off the main street so you don't get traffic noise. There is a secure area you can park your car (the courtyard right in front of your door). The staff are excellent. There is a grocery a few hundred meters down the main street (easy walking distance). There is always someone on duty who speaks English. The staff do everything they can to make sure your stay goes smoothly. They do 10 times more for you than any other hotel staff. Basically... if you are staying in Fiumicino either just as an overnight while waiting for a flight, or several nights while you visit the area, this is the best place to go in my opinion."

"The Euro House Fiumicino was a most welcome experience after spending 2 weeks in Italy and needing a nice place to round out the vacation on a positive note before catching an afternoon flight home the next day. "Like many others on this website, the only real problem with this hotel is that it is very difficult to find! There's another Euro House accommodation hotel in the town, but it's nowhere near this one, so if you're trying to find it by car you'll find yourself driving around in circles. However once we did find it, with helpful directions from the other hotel, this was a real gem of a place. It's very clean, very quiet (although other guests clomping along on the walkways outside can be noisy) and on our visit looked like it had only just been built. Very nice indeed! The lad on reception spoke perfect English and was very helpful, showing us to our room which turned out to be a very large apartment, with kitchen and dining area, bedroom, bathroom - three separate rooms - and balcony. In the fridge provisions including fruit juice and water were offered as complimentary, together with free tea and coffee. It's all self-contained and all quite wonderful. Sadly, the town itself is no picture postcard place, and the hotel's location, whilst on the edge of town, is more to do with convenience for the airport than for any scenic or tourist attraction. But you can't beat this for an overnight stay, and for non-driving guests there's a shuttle bus to take you to the airport nearby. We will definitely use this hotel again."

"Very conviently located between Via Appia and Via Nettunense approx. 25 Km outside Rome near Castelgandolfo. Very friendly staff at reception, first room offered smelled a bit after cold cigarettes (we are non-smokers) but was changed immediately and with apologies to a non-smoking room. Rooms are very clean and everything looks very well taken care of (not always the rule in Italy), extremely clean bathroom, parquet floor a bit creaky and opening in a few spots, but that is not the hotel's fault. Problem: in the aisles also only parquet floo, no carpets => noisy, when people wlka along the aisles or move luggage around early in the morning. Generally noise inside the rooms is a problem in Italy, walls seem to made just of thick paper (not THAT bad here, but still not good). Breakfast was a bit simple but still ok for Italy. As in other hotels very bad orange juice (tasted kind of chemical), i just cannot understand, why hotels use industry stuff in a country where oranges grow along the roadside. Overall ok, staff again very friendly. On the first night, the lady at the reception advised us to visit Ariccia (ca. 8 Km) if we wanted to take a walk before dinnner. Best hint EVER !! In Arriccia, you find several trattorias called "fraschetta" which sell regional food and a specialty called "porchetta" which is basically slices of a whole roasted pork filled with herbs and stuff..folks this is a MUST!! Extremley simple ambiente, but excellent food and friendly staff / guests, this is Italy countryside real live and in colour. Count in approx. 25 EUR for 2 dinners incl 1l of homemade (but good and clean) cooled Sangiovese..and enjoy!".

THE "TINELLO"
Our hotel disposes of an ancient wine cellar placed in the medieval centre of Genzano (1 km from diana Park Hotel) a small town with ancient rural traditions specialized on the production of famous D.C C wines (controlled denominations wines) such as Frascati Colli Lanuvini Marino and others.
The cellar "TINELLO" was built during XVII century and since then it has always been used to preserve the wine obtained from the grape pressing. Infact, after the drawing off process the precious liquid was poured into chestnut wooden barrels, stowed in big niche built in the cellar basement the ideal place to preserve the wine for humidity and temperature.
The cellar has a surface of 200 square meters and can hold about 100 people. Inside, there is an exhibition of ancient tools once used to produce the wine, so the expert can admire barrels, a wine press, a manual weighing machine and other equipments which represented, and in some cases still represent, the tools used for the production of this ancient and famous product on Earth.
We organize wine testíng with typical products of this area, lunch or dinner, with musical entertainment of folk-groups playing famous songs of Castelli Romani.
We usually offer the tasting of white, red and rose wine of Colli Lanuvini (area around Genzano) with home-made bread cheese ant local dressed pork products, the famous roast suckling pig, a typical dish of Ariccia and home-made sweets.
So, the guests can appreciate a suggestive and characteristic atmosphere, reflecting the ancient and rich traditions of this area.
GENZANO
The origin of the name "Genzano" is uncertain, but the most commonly accepted opinion draws it from "Cinthianum, Fanum Cinthianum" due to the existence, in these places, of a temple dedicated to the goddess Diana or Cinthia. The hill where the village is situated was in the past the site of several roman villas, where there are at least four of them; one of these belonged to the Emperor Antonino Pio (born in Lanuvio, a village with a very ancient history, about five or six kilometres from Genzano); in Genzano lived Commodo, the emperor fond of gladiatorial games and Marco Aurelio, the philosopher-emperor fond of Hellenic civilisation. What makes Genzano famous all over the world, rather than its ancient history or buildings, is an ancient yet constantly renewing event, a result of the intelligence and devotion of its inhabitants: the "Infiorata" (Flower fair). This event has been celebrated yearly, in June, the day of the Corpus Domini, since June 1778, when the brothers Arcangelo and Nicola Leofreddi wished to celebrate the sacred day with flowers.

"Thanks to the existing review we ignored the outside and went for it! The room was surprisingly well furnished and comfortable with a view of the Montecassino Abbey. The entire hill had been subjected to a brush fire and a storm was raging when we visited it, so it was a kind of son et lumiere experience! The abbey is not to be missed... huge and very high. The hotel management appear to be making quite an effort at renovating the outside and deserve support. The restaurant was vast so we chose the annexe as most of the town seemed to be there, but the food was good and the experience very enjoyable. Nice helpful staff. Parking at the back is insecure but near to the hotel rear entrance and easy to get to. There is a lift. There were some interesting war memorabilia in the foyer. The Hotel is situated in a manor house of medieval origin, restored in the sixteenth century, in the heart of Civitella d'Agliano, a small agricultural centre located between Orvieto and Viterbo. Civitella developed around the original medieval village, founded about 1026, of which the watch-tower and rock overlooking the central square just in front of the Hotel, are still extant. Wholly restructured, the house currently comprises seven comfortable double rooms and two suites, all included private bathroom, air conditioning and every facility designed to guarantee a pleasant stay.

In the 1960's the Mottura's began modernising their farming methods on the estate: they switched over from share-cropping to direct cultivation and began research into the best use to be made of the soil.
On the gentle slopes of the hillsides vines have found their natural habitat and prosper in the volcanic soil.Records in the archives of Orvieto prove that these hills were particularly suited to the cultivation of vines as far back as in 1929 in so much as some of the best Orvieto wine was even then produced here. As in many other areas the old vineyards, planted generation ago, "married" the vines to trees that would support them, according to the method massed down from the Etruscans.These have gradually been replaced by specialised vineyards, which now extend to 60 hectares and every year new ones are planted to ensure that the quality of the wines will remain as high in the future.
In chosing the varieties an important place has always been reserved for the local indigenous vines and clones have been selected on the basis of bearing fruits with all the best qualities essential to wine making; extensive cultivation in the same area over many years has brought about a natural selection of those more resistant to disease.
Many itineraries are available: Orvieto is only 18 kilometres away from Civitella, and both Rome and Florence may be rapisly reached by rail or motorway. Equally close and directly connected are Siena and the Etruscan towns of Tarquinia and Tuscania and, moving into Umbria, Todi, Spoleto, Deruta, Perugia and the Franciscan towns of Assisi and Gubbio.
The Argentario or the Duna Feniglia and its beautiful beach in the Maremma are only a one-hour drive away, for those who fancy a trip to the seaside. However, swimming sailing and windsurfing may also be practised in the nearby volcanic lakes: Bolsena, with its wonderfully limpid waters and the small lake of Vico, situated amongst the chestnut groves in a magnificent scenery. Not far from Civitella is also the golf course "Le Querce" of Nepi-Sutri. For mountain lovers, on the other hand, the area offers the superb chestnut and beech forests of the Monti Cimini or the Monte Amiata, which in the winter is also a skiing resort.Viterbo, the main town of the Tuscia - that is the ancient name for the region in which we are presently located - also offers the pleasurable benefits of its thermal waters: "Bulicame" and "Bagnacci", with their natural baths into which slightly sulphureous water from the hot springs has been channelled, or the centre of "Terme dei Papi", open throughout the year, with its warm open-air swimming pool, saunas and mud-therapy, massage facilities and beauty centre. Saturnia, a similarly renowned thermal centre, is not far from Civitella, as are many other less famous places which exploit the volcanic springs pervasive throughout the region. For those who may not wish to roam too far afield, Civitella itself and its immediate surroundings offer many amenities, e.g. fully equipped facilities for playing tennis, for horse-riding, fishing, walking and cycling. The "Oasi di Alviano", a nature reserve managed by WWF situated on the banks of the Tiber, offers opportunities for birdwatching and guided tours. Finally, only a few kilometres away from the village are the famous "Parco dei Mostri" (Monsters Park) of Bomarzo and, perched on a clay wall typical of this landscape, Civita di Bagnoregio, the illustrious "dying town". "This is a lovely olde worlde hotel with beautiful gardens and pool area. We had a hard time finding it as I had not arranged directions. We were in two adjoining rooms at the rear of the gardens and separate from the hotel itself. These were fine for us as a family and probably reflected the fair price we paid. The interior of the hotel is "shabby chic" and the dining room could do with an upgrade. However, the gardens are beautiful and the atmosphere very tranquil. We took the train from Frascati, very close, to Rome and I would definitely recommend this as opposed to staying in Rome, especially during the summer. Staff were lovely and very helpful if a bit short staffed in the dining room. I would definitely stay there again."

The Estate of Santa Cristina is placed in Lathium in the village of Magliano Sabina (Rieti). The property is formed by two similar villas that both have a private garden with pergola. Each villa sleeps eight and is divided in the following way.

"This is a lovely little hotel set in pretty surroundings in the village of Monte Porzio Catone, situated in the picturesque hills to the south of Rome. The staff were excellent, from the moment we arrived until we left. We found it to be the perfect base for a five day stay in Italy, and our hire car enabled us to take a day trip south to Herculaneum and the Amalfi Coast, in addition to our time in Rome itself. There are buses and trains into Rome from Frascati (around a 10 minute drive away) but be warned, although there are hourly trains between 6.30 and 9.30 am, the next is not until 12.30pm! However, you can also get a taxi for around 40 euros, or drive a little further and catch the metro at Anagnina underground station. The only tiny criticism we could make about this hotel would be on noise in the room itself - but not everyone will end up with someone who snores like Vesuvius in the next room! Another big plus, though, is that you are only a short drive from Castel Gandolfo, a pretty village overlooking Lake Alban, and site of the Pope's summer residence. There we found a truly excellent restaurant, Antico Ristoante Pagnanelli, family run since 1882 and overlooking the lake. Casale Doria Pamphilj at Testa di Lepre is a 16th Century Grain Barn, part of the Doria Pamphilj farm village. After careful restoration the Casale is now ready to be used for Agriturism. Known as a settlement from Etruscan times the farm at Testa di Lepre has been in the Pamphilj family since 1649 when it was bought by Olimpia Maidalchini (sister-in-law of Pope Innocent X and administrator of the Pamphilj properties) The working "Farm Home Casale Doria Pamphili" has two herds of cattle one producing milk for the local market and one bred on the farm for meat.
The building has been carefully converted to cater for visitors of all ages. There is a large safe garden area and all of the public rooms and most of the apartments are accesible to wheelchairs. There is a lift and two of the apartments are specially equipped for handicapped guests.
The Eight apartments are all on the first floor of the casale opening on to the garden corridor. Every apartment is self contained and on two open levels The lower level consists of a sitting/dining area with a kitchen corner and one or two bathrooms (some with showers and some with bath tubs) In the larger apartments there is a bedroom on this level. In most of the apartments there is a spiral staicase leading up from the sitting room to a small sitting area overlooking the internal garden. In all the apartments there is a wooden staircase up to a double gallery bedroom.
The furnishing is simple and comfortable and all of the windows have views over the surrounding countryside. The small fitted kitchens have a sink, refrigerator and microwave oven and come with china, cutlery, glass and sufficient equipment for the preparation of simple meals.
There are no gas rings or electric hot plates. The water from all the taps in the building is good and safe drinking water
All the apartments have telephone and television with a selection of local and satellite television channels. There are extra phone plugs for computer connection. The building has been restored with security in mind. All of the apartments have a reinforced front door and the public areas of the building are equipped with closed circuit anti intrusion video cameras .
All the apartments are equipped with smoke alarms and fire extiguishers
Bed linen and towels are provided and changed weekly. We ask our guests to bring there own towels for use at the beach.
Welcome Pack. Each apartment is provided with small quantities of a few basic things. Oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, a small amount of sugar, coffee, tea, soap and loo paper. We are very happy to provide you with a welcome pack for you arrival consisting of:

"It was like staying in an old, medieval, stone castle but with modern amenities (great bed and linens, nice bathroom, beautiful wooden amoire, etc.). The grounds were beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful. I wish we stayed more than one night to have a chance to explore the many buildings that make up the estate and learn more about it's history. We would stay here again in a heart beat." |
