The three Hotel dei Consoli is located in the verdant setting of the Alban Hills, just a few kilometres from the papal summer residence at Castelgandolfo and Lake Albano. The territory is famed throughout the world for its wine, but especially for its ancient Roman origins, traces of which can still be seen. The charming nearby hill towns have been a favourite destination of tourists and vacationers since the Roman age, and they are referred to in association with the nineteenth-century grand tours of Europe's most celebrated travellers.
The newly built structure was designed to satisfy all modern hotel-service criteria. It holds 47 rooms. 4 of them junior suites, with the rest divided between singles. twin rooms and doubles.
All the rooms are decorated in a refined, elegant style. from the parquet floors to the curtains, are they are equipped with every convenience: air conditioning. refrigerator bar, telephone and satellite TV.
The Hotel dei Consoli, located between the Via Appia and the Via Nettunense sits on an area of 4000 square meters, a portion of which is set aside for the landscaped grounds. as well as the ample guest parking facility.

"Very Nice modern hotel, rooms are spacious, well maintained and very clean. We also got an upgrade to a corner room with a nice view for no extra charge. "Very conviently located between Via Appia and Via Nettunense approx. 25 Km outside Rome near Castelgandolfo. Very friendly staff at reception, first room offered smelled a bit after cold cigarettes (we are non-smokers) but was changed immediately and with apologies to a non-smoking room. Rooms are very clean and everything looks very well taken care of (not always the rule in Italy), extremely clean bathroom, parquet floor a bit creaky and opening in a few spots, but that is not the hotel's fault. Problem: in the aisles also only parquet floo, no carpets => noisy, when people wlka along the aisles or move luggage around early in the morning. Generally noise inside the rooms is a problem in Italy, walls seem to made just of thick paper (not THAT bad here, but still not good). Breakfast was a bit simple but still ok for Italy. As in other hotels very bad orange juice (tasted kind of chemical), i just cannot understand, why hotels use industry stuff in a country where oranges grow along the roadside. Overall ok, staff again very friendly. On the first night, the lady at the reception advised us to visit Ariccia (ca. 8 Km) if we wanted to take a walk before dinnner. Best hint EVER !! In Arriccia, you find several trattorias called "fraschetta" which sell regional food and a specialty called "porchetta" which is basically slices of a whole roasted pork filled with herbs and stuff..folks this is a MUST!! Extremley simple ambiente, but excellent food and friendly staff / guests, this is Italy countryside real live and in colour. Count in approx. 25 EUR for 2 dinners incl 1l of homemade (but good and clean) cooled Sangiovese..and enjoy!".

Very modern it is only 10 minutes from the airport, spacious suite and big bathrooms. it is just difficult to find if you didn't print the map from venere! the restaurant had only a small menu to offer that night. "Il Castagnone" is the hotel's typical restaurant and is surrounded by a wide garden, that faces the Lake, where, during the summer time it's possible to eat. The luminous and elegantly furnished dining-room can give hospitality to 200 people, while the terraces allow to receive 250 people comfortably. The restaurant is open every day and offers a variety of typical dishes prepared with rare skill.
THE "TINELLO"
Our hotel disposes of an ancient wine cellar placed in the medieval centre of Genzano (1 km from diana Park Hotel) a small town with ancient rural traditions specialized on the production of famous D.C C wines (controlled denominations wines) such as Frascati Colli Lanuvini Marino and others.
The cellar "TINELLO" was built during XVII century and since then it has always been used to preserve the wine obtained from the grape pressing. Infact, after the drawing off process the precious liquid was poured into chestnut wooden barrels, stowed in big niche built in the cellar basement the ideal place to preserve the wine for humidity and temperature.
The cellar has a surface of 200 square meters and can hold about 100 people. Inside, there is an exhibition of ancient tools once used to produce the wine, so the expert can admire barrels, a wine press, a manual weighing machine and other equipments which represented, and in some cases still represent, the tools used for the production of this ancient and famous product on Earth.
We organize wine testíng with typical products of this area, lunch or dinner, with musical entertainment of folk-groups playing famous songs of Castelli Romani.
We usually offer the tasting of white, red and rose wine of Colli Lanuvini (area around Genzano) with home-made bread cheese ant local dressed pork products, the famous roast suckling pig, a typical dish of Ariccia and home-made sweets.
So, the guests can appreciate a suggestive and characteristic atmosphere, reflecting the ancient and rich traditions of this area.
GENZANO
The origin of the name "Genzano" is uncertain, but the most commonly accepted opinion draws it from "Cinthianum, Fanum Cinthianum" due to the existence, in these places, of a temple dedicated to the goddess Diana or Cinthia. The hill where the village is situated was in the past the site of several roman villas, where there are at least four of them; one of these belonged to the Emperor Antonino Pio (born in Lanuvio, a village with a very ancient history, about five or six kilometres from Genzano); in Genzano lived Commodo, the emperor fond of gladiatorial games and Marco Aurelio, the philosopher-emperor fond of Hellenic civilisation. What makes Genzano famous all over the world, rather than its ancient history or buildings, is an ancient yet constantly renewing event, a result of the intelligence and devotion of its inhabitants: the "Infiorata" (Flower fair). This event has been celebrated yearly, in June, the day of the Corpus Domini, since June 1778, when the brothers Arcangelo and Nicola Leofreddi wished to celebrate the sacred day with flowers.
THE SHIPS OF NEMI'S LAKE
The area to the south of Rome especially the Roman Castles, is full of historical memories and many are the archaeological sites. However the place where ancient history is more evident and the atmosphere itself is a reminder of the past, is the Lake of Nemi with the famous Roman Ships Museum. In this background we can locate the presence of the Roman ships from Nemi. All through the Middle Ages they were shrouded in mystery and subjects of fantastic stories told by the fishermen of this place: two huge hulls were sunk near the western shore of the lake; huge treasures were kept in their hold, and monsters would forbid anybody to come near.

The diana Park Hotel is about 35 Km from the centre of Rome. The easiest way to reach the hotel from Rome is to take the Via Appia and follow the instructions for Albano-Velletri up to Genzano - famous and delicious "Genzano bread" -. There you meet a cross-road for Nemi where you have to turn on your left. Another way is the Via dei Laghi which reaches Marino and then go to Nemi and down to the hotel.

"Enjoyed our stay very much although one small criticism was that the bar was never opened during our stay which would have been nice. Receptionist was really helpful and a lovely friendly girl."

We looked out on a large deck (entered from out in the hall) and across the lake at Nemi. The hotel is located between Nemi and Genzano. If you're coming from Nemi, the driveway is hard to see and turn into. The restaurant was reasonably good, if not exciting. Despite its name & the chestnuts pelting the cars in the lot, there were no chestnuts on the menu. Breakfast was lean until a large group arrived, but by asking one could get huge delicious pears. The hotel staff was pleasant and helpful."
